The Drill

Now, the low point control is a really big deal when it comes to short game. And here's what I mean by that.

If you can manage how the golf club is moving into the ground as you hit the shot, then you've got a really good chance of hitting the trajectory of the shot you want.

Here's what I mean: As the golf club comes in and is very flat along the bottom, then that tends to produce a shot that can go a little bit lower.

If you want one to go a little bit higher, then the golf club needs to move down and back up pretty quickly.

I have this drill here that I like to do that helps you for the feel of getting the club up, down, and back up quickly, and that makes the shot go a lot higher.

So I have one ball on the ground and I'm going to hit and I have another ball about 12 to 14 inches behind it and another 12 to 14 inches in front of it.

And here's what you're going to do, you're going to set up and make a normal golf swing here.

You're gonna get the club up quick enough to miss the back ball, you're gonna get it down and hit the ball, and back up fast enough to miss the ball in the front.

If you can do that, then that means you're managing the bottom of the swing well enough to be able to get down and strike the ball to make it go up. Check it out.

Miss the back, miss the front, hit the shot. I left both balls on the ground without touching them. You know I've managed low point.

You gotta try that next time out around the green, you'll start to see some higher trajectory shots, a little bit more crisp contact, and the ball should land a lot softer.

Leave any questions you have, I promise I'll try to get to as many as I can to help you a lot around it.
